Diving into Blender

In one of my previous posts I talked about what software I use for my 3D stuff. I mentioned I am interested in Blender and how promising it looks. Time had come to really try out its capabilities.

It is never easy to start using 3D software. There are a million buttons and sliders and every interface is different. To get a bit of head start with Blender I changed the short cut keys to resemble Maya. That gave an immediate sense of familiarity.

Next up was to follow some tutorials. I came across a guy named Andrew Price. He hosts a site called Blender Guru. He gives really clear tutorials on how to get started in Blender. One of the tutorials, how to make a donut, is a nice and easy practical project to start with without getting bogged down into too much boring interface learning.

Although it is still work in progress I am already pleased with the progress I am making.
